In my first posting about the 5Peaks trail running races being held around Ottawa I expressed how surprised I was that the first race could only attract 100 registrants. Today on TriRudy the race director, Mike Caldwell, asked for ideas about how to further promote his second race of the season. The race is to be held July 26th, and he currently only has 28 registered racers. If you have any ideas, please post them here or send them to Mike.  

Given the challenges I faced in the first race (bear encounter, having to short-cut the course to get medical help for another racer, etc…) Mike has offered me a free entry to the race on the 26th. Even if he hadn’t given me the entry, I would still have gone to this race. I had a great time at the first event and expect that this course will be just as interesting, challenging and scenic as the first course Mike put together. I hope some of you will consider participating or spread the word to someone else who might be interested. Ottawa has a great running community; let’s help support a great local race director.
